Three surveillance still images have been released by police, which show a side view, an oblique view, and a view with the offender standing and twisted to the right. The images apparently show a man wearing a dark hoodie, dark head and facial cover (possibly a dark Balaclava), dark over-the-wrist long gloves with a white logo, one white shoe and one dark-colored shoe. Police said he appears to be a white male about 5-foot-9 to 6-foot tall, holding a large knife. The offender was seen removing currency from the cash register. The gloves appear to be black work gloves, or sports, ski or snow mobile gloves.

The offender appears to be armed with a combat or fighting knife — possibly a black KA-BAR Tanto knife or similar knife. The KA-BAR Tanto knife is described by the manufacturer as a “thick pointed blade that’s good for penetration.” The knife blade of the Tanto knife is 8 inches, and the overall knife length is 12-7/8 inches.

Streamwood police urge anyone with information to call their investigations division at 630-736-3700 or leave an anonymous tip at 630-736-3719.

Those Aren’t Fireworks, Those Were Gunshots at Kiescher Party on Sherwood Dr Near Waverly Ave, Streamwood

Google Street View of the neighborhood where about 20 shots were fired at a party on Sherwood Drive in Streamwood.

Streamwood police responded late night/early morning June 2, 2013 to the 400 block of Sherwood Drive to a complaint about a loud party that turned out to be partygoers taking target practice with a .22 caliber revolver that hit two neighboring homes.

One bullet projectile ended up traveling through the bedroom in one of the homes and lodged in a closet door. The resident was taking a shower in an adjacent bathroom when the bullet hit.

Peter Kiescher, 49, hosting the party was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, a felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Kiescher’s son and three of his friends also were charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to police. The subjects were identified as Peter Kriescher Jr., 18, of the 13000 block of South 70th Court, Palos Heights; Jacalyn Dooley, 20, of the 8000 block of Nielsen Drive, Tinley Park; Jaime Johnson, 22, of the 10400 block of South Maplewood, Chicago; and Teresa Kitchin, of the 14300 block of south Woodland Avenue, Orland Park. Police investigating the subjects discovered none of them had a firearms owner ID (FOID) card.

Police secured the area when they discovered that what was initially believed to be fireworks were bullets flying. Even a girl at the party thought she was only shooting a BB gun. Police called for back up and were considering a SWAT response, especially when they called the home where the party was being held and got no answer. Next they used a bullhorn to ask people to more to the front of the house, but the people were uncooperative and went inside, turned off the lights and closed the blinds.

Eventually, the subjects were arrested with some neighboring police agencies assisting Streamwood police.

Police estimate the revolver was fired about 20 times at books and a beer can — using a large wood crate filled with dirt as a backstop. Ridge Circle Elementary School is less than a block away from the crime scene.

At a press conference Tuesday morning March 4, 2014 police said they are looking for new leads in the stabbing homicide, which occurred sometime before 4:37 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013. The victim was stabbed eight times in the chest at Thornton’s Gas Station, 2 N. Barrington Road — half way between Bode Road and Schaumburg Road in Streamwood. The gas station is surrounded by residential neighborhoods.

Dawn’s first light on the morning of the homicide would have been about 5:52 a.m. with sunrise at 6:20 a.m.

The reward for information leading to the killer of Anandkumar Jaiswal, working as a gas station attendant, has been increased to $27,000.

About March 18, 2013, three surveillance still images were released by police, which show a side view, an oblique view, and a view with the offender standing and twisted to the right.

Two additional still images and a video segment were released today. Information was also released about the increase of the reward.

The reward for information leading to an arrest in the weekend murder of a Streamwood, IL gas station clerk has been raised to $25,000 in addition to donations raised by DonateReward.com.

The announcement came after a funeral in Bartlett for 24-year-old Anandkumar “Andy” Jaiswal, who was stabbed to death in a robbery early Saturday morning, March 16, 2013 while working at the Thornton’s gas station at 2 N. Barrington Road in Streamwood.

Matt Thornton, president and CEO of Thornton’s Inc., said his company is offering the reward to bring Jaiswal’s killer to justice.

“All of us at Thornton’s are outraged by this random and senseless act,” he said. “Andy was an outstanding young man, a valued team member, and he had a very bright future ahead with our organization.”

Streamwood High School Student Faces Gun Charges, After Police Find Handgun in Neighborhood Nearby

$

Streamwood police charged a Streamwood High School student with unlawful use of a weapon on school ground (as a juvenile) after police found a handgun near the campus of Streamwood High School. The student was also charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting/obstructing arrest. The male student’s identity is not being released because he was charged as a juvenile.

The handgun was recovered Friday in a residential area just off school property, when about 2:30 p.m. rumors spread that a firearm had been brought to the campus. The school activated an almost 90-minute lockdown of school property. Police and K-9 units from multiple agencies scoured school property to investigate. Police said there were no injuries linked to the incident.

According to a message sent to parents from the District U-46 safety coordinator, students at Streamwood High School reported to a dean that a classmate had a weapon at about 2 p.m. Friday.

That student was brought out of class for questioning, but the student ran from the building into the surrounding neighborhood. He apparently was in possession of the weapon while in school and dumped the weapon in the neighborhood when he fled, but this has not been confirmed by police.

The student was taken to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center today, but no information was available regarding where the student was apprehended or how the duration of time from when he fled school to the time of his arrest.

It is unknown at this time if neighbors near the school were notified by reverse 9-1-1 regarding an armed subject fleeing in their neighborhood. No known Twitter account is administered by Streamwood Police Department or the Village of Streamwood to notify residents of active dangerous situations in real time.

Cardinal Note: As of June 5, 2013 — up to and including the date of this article — police incidents related to the above police agency are not reported in real time or within a prompt time period. Police protecting their realm of investigation and police activity, have chosen to use secret military-grade encrypted radios to withhold their police communications, which were previously open to the public and news media via monitoring of public safety scanning radios — with no known negative results locally.

The delayed knowledge or entirely blacked out knowledge resulting from encrypted police communications may protect certain police operations and investigations, but it also puts the public at risk in situations such as when armed and dangerous offenders are at large and when other similar situations occur, such as when desperate offenders of property crimes are eluding police. In other cases, the delayed or blacked out information inhibits or prohibits the possibility of the public providing early witness accounts before a criminal trail goes cold. Citizens are much more likely to recognize or recall suspicious or criminal activity if they are aware of the criminal incident within minutes or hours of its occurrence. The most serious incident involving dire results would be a trail that is allowed to go cold in the case of child abduction.

The lack of real time information from public police dispatch also weakens an effective neighborhood watch program mostly working to prevent property loss, but also working to prevent possible violent crimes.

Police have alternate ways to transmit tactical, operational or investigative information, while still keeping their main public dispatch channels open for the best balance of public safety and police safety.

Fight At Streamwood High School: Six Students Arrested, Possibly At Least 40 Involved in Disturbance

Streamwood police responded about 11:15 AM Tuesday to Streamwood High School, 701 W Schaumburg Rd Streamwood , IL. Police received a report of a fight in progress and Streamwood High School administrators then put the school in a “hold in place” mode Tuesday afternoon. At least 20 police vehicles were on the scene. The fight quickly calmed down when police arrived.

Six students were arrested, no known weapons were used, and no significant injuries were reported.

Neither police nor the school district have offered details on the nature of the fight or any details of the arrests, but CBS 2 Chicago is reporting the fight was a “racially-based” lunchroom brawl. A quote from one student reports that at least 40 kids were fighting. The fight moved from the lunchroom to the second floor and into offices, according to the witness report.

Another witness reported “African-Americans” and “Hispanics” were “attacking each other today.” Apparently tensions have been building for at least a few weeks with some verbal fighting on Facebook and Twitter.

On their official Twitter account, School District U-46 referred to the fight as “the situation” and reported about 12:16 p.m. that “the situation is calm” and that Streamwood High School is currently in a “hold in place.”

Several students responded to the official tweet with a “Why you lyin'” theme.

According to the United States Census Bureau report of Streamwood, the population considered “one race” category are 66 percent white, 4.5 percent Black or African American, and 15 percent Asian.

The Hispanic or Latino population is reported at 28.2 percent of the entire Streamwood population.

Police from Bartlett, Cook County Sheriff, Elgin, Hanover Park, and Schaumburg assisted Streamwood police officers.

About the same time as the Streamwood High School fight on Tuesday, Palatine police were conducting a school shooting drill. The drill at a Palatine school district did not involve staff or students. There are additional police drills in Palatine scheduled during the remainder of May.

Extra supervision is planned for Streamwood High School Wednesday morning.

A Streamwood man wanted for trafficking a 15-year-old girl for sex has been arrested, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Saturday.

Derrick Hill, 41, was taken into custody on Oct.23 at his home by the Streamwood Police Department on a $1.5 million arrest warrant for involuntary sexual servitude of a minor. The warrant, issued on Oct. 7, stemmed from a Cook County Sheriff’s Police Vice Unit investigation that began in January.

According to the Sheriff’s Police Vice Unit investigation, Hill arranged “dates” on Backpage.com for the juvenile victim where she would perform sex acts for money, and Hill would profit from those “dates.” The investigation found that Hill also rented the hotels rooms where these acts would occur.

Hill also was arrested for an outstanding traffic violation warrant.

Sheriff Dart acknowledged the Streamwood Police Department for their assistance in this case.

Sheriff Dart also reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the Government in a court of law.

Streamwood Police: Armed Robbery/Homicide Suspect Surveillance Video at Thorntons Gas Station, 2 North Barrington Road, Streamwood about 4:37 a.m. Saturday March 16, 2013.

It is now over three years since the unsolved murder of Anandkumar Jaiswal, Clerk at the 24-hour Streamwood Thorntons gas station about 4:37 a.m. Saturday March 16, 2013.

Three surveillance still images were immediately released by police, which show a side view, an oblique view, and a view with the offender standing and twisted to the right. The gloves appear to be black work gloves, or sports, ski or snowmobile gloves. One year after the murder, Streamwood Police Department released the surveillance video.

 IMPORTANT ALERT …

Lack of real time information from police dispatch also delays public awareness or eliminates public awareness of general hazards and traffic or other situations in everyday living in an otherwise economically thriving community.

Police have alternate ways to transmit tactical, operational or investigative information, while still keeping their main public dispatch channels open for the best balance of public safety and police safety.
